The current location of Eisenhut
Insurance Agencies Ltd. at 8308 Main Street, Osoyoos, is the same office that was originally opened in 1964
by Paul Eisenhut. Back then it was a two person operation with Paul’s wife, Anne, working next to him. In 1977 their son, Doug, joined the
team with other staff members being added as required.

During the past 37 years the office has seen many changes both within the industry and
within the office.

In the early
years, the average fire policy would cover a home and it’s
contents valued at about $2,000 and cost the homeowner
approximately $30 for a 3 year term. Today, homes are covered
to their replacement value and for perils in addition to fire
such as theft, vandalism, water damage and glass breakage.

The office has gone from completely manual operations where all policies
were typed onto forms to a fully automated and computerized office that
regularly utilizes the internet and on-line services.

One of the goals at Eisenhut Insurance is to provide prompt,
knowledgeable and courteous service to our clients. During expansion
renovations in 1989 the office floor space was doubled, allowing room
for two I.C.B.C. terminals which provide access to Motor Vehicle and
I.C.B.C.
information. The office now has a third terminal used solely for
Drivers Licensing transactions.

In the mid 1970’s, Eisenhut Insurance became one of the first offices
to become an appointed agent for the Motor Vehicle Branch. This allowed
the office to issue and renew Drivers Licenses and Learners Licenses as
well as some special permits. This service now includes out of province
Drivers license transfers, new driver testing, collection of Motor
Vehicle fines, the issuance of B.C. photo identification cards and
aiding in the application for release of Impounded Vehicles.

In another step to provide better service to clients, Eisenhut Insurance
opened it’s doors on Saturdays, introducing a six day business week.

Along with all of our other services, Eisenhut Insurance remains a
General Insurance office that provides a wide variety of products to our
customers. We represent the insured to 10 of Canada’s major property
insurers and act on the clients behalf to obtain the best policy to
reflect their needs. Some property that can be covered through Eisenhut
Insurance include Homes, Tenants contents, Condominium contents, Mobile
Homes and Farms. The office can also place coverage for a variety of
business ventures ranging from small home based operations to larger
more complex retail or manufacturing businesses. The commercial client
can also look to Eisenhut Insurance for Liability coverage, Cargo
insurance and Bonding.

Eisenhut Insurance strives to provide focused, customer oriented service
including free consultations and quotes. Our counter service is
courteous and efficient concentrating on the customers needs. In the
unfortunate event of a claim the staff at Eisenhut Insurance is there
to help the insured through the claim as painlessly as possible. For
over 20 years, Doug has been involved in every aspect of the claims process making sure that our customers always get the settlement that
they are entitled to.
